Sanxenxo will host the International Fishing Tourism Congress on 15 and 16 October, a gathering that will bring together institutional representatives, professionals, and national and international experts to analyse the challenges and opportunities of tourism related to fishing activities.
The event is part of the Mar e Rías project, which aims to promote the development and consolidation of marine tourism and fishing tourism as tools for economic diversification and the enhancement of maritime and fishing heritage.
The congress will address issues related to sustainability, innovation, and the development of new tourism experiences linked to the sea, facilitating the exchange of knowledge and best practices between the fishing and tourism sectors.
The Galician Tourism Cluster will participate in a session dedicated to "Networking, cooperation, and governance," scheduled for the afternoon of Thursday, 15 October. The session will feature contributions from its president, Cesáreo Pardal, and Manuel Veloso from the technical secretariat.
During their participation, the Cluster will emphasise the importance of establishing collaborative networks among the various stakeholders involved in the development of marine tourism and fishing tourism. They will also highlight the need to advance in the creation, structuring, promotion, and marketing of tourism experiences linked to Galicia's maritime culture and traditions.
In this context, the role of cooperation between the fishing sector, tourism businesses, and promotional entities will be underscored, aiming to transform traditional maritime resources and activities into attractive, sustainable, and competitive tourism products.
The Cluster's participation in this event reinforces its commitment to diversifying Galician tourism offerings, fostering inter-sector collaboration, and developing new economic opportunities for coastal communities, thereby contributing to positioning Galicia as a destination for authentic and sustainable experiences.
