Schoolchildren showcase zarzuela in La Solana

The 42nd edition of the National Zarzuela Week in La Solana showcased the enthusiasm and talent of 192 schoolchildren from seven local public schools. The event took place on Tuesday, transforming various venues around the town into vibrant stages for the performances.

The Casa de la Iglesia hosted performances by CEIP Federico Romero and Sagrado Corazón, where students presented several pieces from Gigantes y cabezudos. Meanwhile, the Casa de la Encomienda served as the backdrop for El Santo and La Moheda, who performed excerpts from Las Leandras. The auditorium of the Escuela de Música welcomed students from CEIP El Humilladero, who showcased numbers from La del manojo de rosas. Finally, Palacio Don Diego hosted Javier Paulino and Romero Peña schools, who brought to life various scenes from La rosa del azafrán.

This year’s event was attended by José Caro, the provincial delegate for Education, along with several inspectors who toured the different venues to witness the performances and understand how schools are introducing zarzuela to their students.

Each performance was the result of significant preparatory work by the schools. Teachers and families collaborated closely in preparing the scenes, learning the songs, and creating costumes and stage elements, which are essential for bringing each representation to fruition.
