The Archaeological Museum of Alicante is set to host a scientific conference on Monday, focusing on the exhibition titled 'Gold and the Universe: Indigenous Knowledge from Colombia'. The event will bring together the curatorial team of the international exhibition, including Marcos Martinón Torres, Marcela García Sierra, and Luis Cayón, alongside Alberto Escovar Wilson-White, the director of the Gold Museum of the Bank of the Republic of Colombia, and Ángel Rocamora, the architect behind the exhibition's design. Indigenous representatives Phuyu Uma and Eyder Calambás will also participate.
The speakers will delve into the underlying concepts of the exhibition, present lesser-known details about the collections, explain the exhibition design, share the latest research developments, and provide comprehensive information about the contents of 'Gold and the Universe'. Following the presentations, attendees will conclude the day with a guided tour led by the exhibition's curators.
'Gold and the Universe' will be on display at MARQ until 2 May 2027. The exhibition features one of the world's most significant collections of pre-Hispanic goldsmithing and offers a broad perspective on indigenous knowledge from both the past and present. Organised by the CV MARQ Foundation and the Diputación de Alicante, the scientific conference is open to the public.
