Sevilla strengthens its position as a global mining hub at Mining and Minerals Hall 2026

Álvaro Pimentel, the Economy delegate for Sevilla, inaugurated the sixth edition of the Mining and Minerals Hall (MMH) at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos (FIBES) on 20 October 2026. He emphasised the support of the local government, led by José Luis Sanz, for a strategic sector that positions the Andalusian capital as a hub for investment, corporate headquarters, and skilled employment.

Pimentel stated, "The most ambitious edition of the Mining and Minerals Hall, featuring 332 exhibitors from 25 countries and a 29% growth, reflects the strength of an essential sector and demonstrates that Sevilla is now the city where international mining makes its strategic decisions. We have transformed the city's profile to also position it as a competitive enclave capable of attracting multinational headquarters, closing deals, and retaining talent."

The delegate further noted that this leadership stems from a model of a city council that provides stability and agile responses to the sector's technical needs. He pointed out significant developments, such as the relocation of Atalaya Mining's headquarters from Cyprus to Sevilla and the establishment of AMINER as the national mining association based in the city, confirming the government's ability to generate investor confidence.

During the three-day event, Sevilla is positioned at the centre of European industrial policy, discussing critical minerals, supply security, and decarbonisation. Pimentel concluded, "The city council will continue to strengthen public-private collaboration to ensure that the industry has the best operational conditions and continues to drive the city’s economic growth."
