Seville explores new collaboration opportunities in connectivity with Singapore

The City Council of Seville is actively seeking to bolster its ties with Southeast Asia through a business delegation currently in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. A recent working meeting with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) was held as part of this institutional and business mission.

Led by the first deputy mayor, Juan Bueno, and the delegate for Tourism and Culture, Angie Moreno, the meeting aimed to identify strategies beneficial for Seville in terms of market connectivity, business collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange. Moreno highlighted the importance of the Turkish Airlines connection, which links Seville and Singapore with a single stop in Istanbul, facilitating travel for Southeast Asian visitors to Seville and vice versa.

“Having a connection that allows us to reach Singapore from Seville with just one stop in Istanbul is an opportunity we need to seize. Connectivity is not just about transport; it is a tool for generating demand, opening markets, and creating new business and economic collaboration opportunities,”

Moreno stated.

She further emphasised Seville's intention to enhance its presence in the Singapore market, focusing on the city's strengths in connecting markets, businesses, professionals, investment, and knowledge. Notably, Seville experienced a 63% increase in visitors from Singapore compared to the same period last year. The City Council aims to encourage Southeast Asian professionals to include Seville in their business proposals, positioning the city as a premier gateway to Southern Europe.
