On October 7, Teatro Colón in A Coruña will host the performance 'Circes e Morganas', an artistic initiative designed to celebrate and highlight the literary, intellectual, and human legacy of Begoña Caamaño, who will be honored on the Day of Galician Letters 2026. Organized by the A Coruña City Council and produced by Nordesía, the event is part of the Rosario festivities and will feature some of the leading creators of contemporary Galician culture in a collective tribute expressed through music, spoken word, and visual art.
The event will begin at 8:00 PM and admission will be free until capacity is reached. Gonzalo Castro, the city’s Councillor for Culture and Tourism, emphasized the commitment of Inés Rey's government to promote the figure of Begoña Caamaño and Galician culture. "Begoña Caamaño was a fundamental voice in our literature, feminism, and Galician journalism. We wanted to pay tribute to her legacy with a contemporary, collective, and emotional proposal that connects with her understanding of culture and life," Castro stated.
Under the direction of Marina Oural and Ugia Pedreira from the Galician Office of Other Affairs of the Movement, 'Circes e Morganas' offers a poetic and sonic journey through Begoña Caamaño's universe, exploring her multifaceted roles as a writer, journalist, feminist activist, and cultural reference. The performance is conceived as a collective celebration inspired by the free-spirited, committed, and transgressive nature of the author of 'Circe ou o pracer do azul'. Through readings, live music, and visual creation, the event aims to foster a space of encounter and solidarity, placing women at the center of the narrative.
Artists including Rosa Cedrón, Ana Romaní, Lucía Aldao, Uxía, Faia Díaz, Tereixa Novo, A Pedreira, De Vacas, Alba María, and Zeltia Irevire will come together on stage for this artistic gathering that champions friendship, shared creation, and the transmission of cultural memory. The visual aspect will be handled by illustrator Agustina Shuan, who will enhance the performance with projections created specifically for the occasion.
The event will also explore the musical influences that shaped Begoña Caamaño's life and intellectual journey, featuring Galician music from groups and artists such as Fuxan os Ventos and Uxía, as well as international figures like Zeca Afonso, Cesária Évora, Silvio Rodríguez, Maria Bethânia, and Violeta Parra.

In addition to this performance, A Coruña's Old Town will be bustling with activities as part of the Rosario festivities. On Tuesday, the day will kick off with a performance by the group Amizades at 7:00 PM, followed by the traditional opening speech in Fariña Square at 8:00 PM, delivered by local resident Maria del Carmen Castelo Rodriguez.
