The Castreña theatre company Tela Marinera is set to perform the comedy ¡Suéltate! on 17 October at 19:30 as part of the Piélagos theatre festival, organised by the local council. This performance marks the fifth offering in the festival's 2026 edition.
¡Suéltate! is a micro-theatre comedy and monologue written by Rafael Mendizábal, José Luis Alonso de Santos, and Marc Egea. The play explores the concept that every individual carries experiences that shape their character, emphasising the importance of verbalising and sharing these events to achieve personal liberation.
The narrative suggests that each person is a unique world, filled with stories that often compel them to retreat into themselves, much like snails. The characters in ¡Suéltate! use humour—albeit dark humour—to express their struggles, sometimes involving the audience as confidants.
The Piélagos theatre festival, organised by the Department of Culture in collaboration with the Cantabria Amateur Theatre Federation (FETEACAN) and the Amateur Theatre Confederation (ESCENAMATEUR), will feature a total of seven performances, all with free entry, at the Teatro Vimenor in Vioño.
