The cultural cycle ‘Tentemplé’ is set to return this October, offering a series of activities designed for all audiences in the picturesque Jardines de Pereda and the Auditórium del Sardinero. The event will take place on three Sundays: October 11, 18, and 25.
Noemí Méndez, the Councillor for Culture, announced the details of this month’s program, which will include a variety of performances such as music, oral storytelling, humor, and live artistic creation. The lineup features artists including Saxolis, Pedro Herrero ‘El Artivista’, Aldo Méndez, the duo Cuatro Alas, Bea Millán, and Vanesa Muela.
Méndez emphasized that this programming, coordinated by the company Cultropía, aims to revitalize the temple-like structures as vibrant cultural spaces and foster connections between artists, locals, and visitors. “We want ‘Tentemplé’ to build its own identity within Santander’s cultural programming, offering diverse and surprising proposals,” she stated, highlighting the initiative’s commitment to combining various artistic disciplines and formats.
The October edition will feature a range of performances, transitioning from saxophone and percussion to tango, poetry, and traditional music, alongside storytelling and humor, as well as a live painting process.
Méndez also noted the open nature of the activities and their setting in two well-known locations. “Culture also helps to create new ways of experiencing and inhabiting the city’s spaces, and ‘Tentemplé’ allows us to do this with accessible, close, and high-quality proposals,” she added.
Program Schedule
The programming will kick off on Sunday, October 11, at the Jardines de Pereda with Saxolis, a saxophone and percussion duo that blends house, funk, and Latin rhythms in an energetic performance. The show will feature interactive elements and will have sessions at 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, as well as 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
On the same day, at 1:00 PM in the Auditórium, Pedro Herrero ‘El Artivista’ will present ‘Born to be guay’, a solo show combining interactive monologues, humor, guitar, ukulele, and live vocals. Herrero, a musician, actor, and writer, offers a humorous take on everyday life through his texts, sketches, and songs.
On October 18, storyteller Aldo Méndez will perform at the Jardines de Pereda with ‘Historias viajeras’ and ‘Palabras más, palabras menos…’, engaging audiences with literature and oral traditions. Performances will be held at 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM, and again at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. That same day, the duo Cuatro Alas will present a tango and poetry performance at the Auditórium at 1:00 PM, featuring instrumental versions for violin and bandoneón.
‘Tentemplé’ will conclude its October programming on Sunday, October 25, with a focus on artistic creation at the Jardines de Pereda. Artist Bea Millán will conduct ‘A Chorro Vivo’, a live graffiti intervention creating a large-format piece using gestural painting techniques. This event will take place between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, and again from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, allowing the public to witness the creative process in real-time.
Finally, at 1:00 PM that day, the Auditórium will host Vanesa Muela, a performer specializing in traditional music and folklore, who has over four decades of experience and has given more than 4,200 concerts across Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Méndez encouraged both locals and visitors to attend the free events, describing ‘Tentemplé’ as an invitation to engage with culture in a spontaneous manner.
