Teruel unveils diverse cultural autumn programme for all ages

The city of Teruel has launched its 2026 Autumn Cultural programme, promising a rich array of activities across various cultural venues in the city over the coming months. The initiative aims to provide high-quality performances and a variety of disciplines, catering to audiences of all ages.

Carlos Méndez, the city’s Councillor for Culture, emphasised that the goal is for "every resident of Teruel to find something of interest within the programme," which will include music, theatre, dance, humour, heritage, family-oriented activities, and other cultural formats. "We have a very varied programme, appealing to different ages and tastes, but above all, we want to maintain a significant level of quality. We want culture for everyone, allowing the people of Teruel to enjoy excellent performances without needing to travel," Méndez stated.

This autumn, live performances will take centre stage, featuring shows in music, theatre, humour, and dance. Notable events include performances by Hevia, the ballet 'Swan Lake', 'Perimenoparty', and 'Locuras Paralelas', alongside various concerts and shows that will enrich the cultural landscape in the months ahead.

The programme also places a strong emphasis on children and family audiences, with initiatives designed to introduce culture to younger generations and encourage families to share and enjoy cultural experiences together. In addition to live performances, the programme will feature screenings of major opera titles, including 'La Traviata' and 'Turandot', further broadening the range of genres and content available to the people of Teruel.

Music will be another key focus, with numerous concerts and activities planned around the celebration of Santa Cecilia, which will prominently involve the Santa Cecilia Music School and Band. The heritage of Teruel will also be highlighted, especially as the city commemorates the 40th anniversary of the UNESCO designation of the Mudejar architecture of Teruel as a World Heritage Site, along with unique offerings such as 'El canto de la Sibila'.

Méndez particularly praised the collaboration between the city council and various local entities, associations, and groups, which enriches the municipal programme. He expressed gratitude for the involvement of Fundación Ibercaja and the Santa Cecilia Music School and Band, whose representatives participated in the programme's presentation, as well as the numerous organisations and collectives that work alongside the council throughout the year. "While the city council has its own programming, the culture of Teruel is built collectively. We have entities, associations, and groups doing excellent work, and our intention is to continue collaborating and facilitating their proposals to reach the people of Teruel," he noted.

Méndez also reminded attendees that the programme is not yet finalised, as there are additional performances and activities still in coordination, which will be announced soon. "We chose to present the Autumn Cultural programme now because there are upcoming activities that the residents of Teruel need to know about and mark in their calendars. It made no sense to delay the entire programme while waiting for the last proposals to be finalised," he explained.

He concluded by encouraging residents to participate and enjoy the upcoming cultural offerings: "We have an autumn ahead filled with diverse, high-quality culture for all audiences, and new proposals will still be added." The Culture Department invites citizens to consult the complete programme and engage in the various activities planned for the coming months.
