The Patron Saint Festivities in Torrejón de Ardoz are set to take place from October 2 to October 4, 2026, featuring a range of free concerts and traditional events. Residents are advised to dress appropriately for the rainy weather expected over the weekend.
Concerts and Entertainment
The festivities will kick off on Friday, October 2, at 21:00 hours with a performance by the Orquesta Panorama, recognized as Spain's number one orchestra. On Saturday, October 3, the Orquesta La Misión will take the stage, promising high-quality musical entertainment.
In the Plaza Mayor, popular Spanish singer Bertín Osborne will perform on Friday evening following the opening speech. With over 28 albums released in his 45-year career, Osborne is a well-known figure in both Spain and Latin America. On Saturday, Los Chunguitos will celebrate their 50+1 anniversary tour, performing beloved hits that resonate with Spanish cultural heritage.
For younger audiences, the Moonkey Party-Joven will feature DJs José de las Heras and Jorge Vaquero on Friday night, and José del Puerto and Chema Fuentes on Saturday, starting at midnight.
Traditional Events
Mayor Alejandro Navarro Prieto emphasized the importance of local traditions, stating that the Hermandad de la Virgen del Rosario Coronada and local groups play a crucial role in keeping these festivities alive. The program includes various activities such as the Encounter of Giants and Bigheads, a tribute to the flag with aerial and ground parades, a floral offering, and a children’s bull run.
On Sunday, October 4, the festivities will continue with a tribute to the flag featuring the Air Force Parachuting Acrobatic Patrol, showcasing a significant representation of the Armed Forces and State Security Forces.
Special Honors
This year, the festivities will also see the appointment of the Virgen del Rosario Coronada as Honorary Mayor of Torrejón de Ardoz, a decision made during an institutional meeting on October 2. A ceremonial transfer of the mayoral staff will take place on Sunday at 12:30 hours in the San Juan Evangelista Church, with all residents invited to attend.
Mario Rivillos, a local futsal player and captain of the Spanish national team, will serve as the festival's herald.
Community Involvement
In a nod to community spirit, the mayor encouraged residents to decorate their balconies with flags of Spain and Torrejón de Ardoz to enhance the festive atmosphere. The council expressed gratitude to all involved in organizing the events, including local sports clubs, health services, and the Ministry of Defense, highlighting the collective effort needed to make the Patron Saint Festivities memorable.
