Santander City Council has announced that road resurfacing works being conducted by Aqualia around the Town Hall are causing traffic disruptions on Thursday, 15 October. These works are part of a broader initiative to enhance the sewage network and mitigate flooding risks in the area.
As of 08:00 today, traffic has been halted on Isabel II Street, specifically between Calvo Sotelo and the intersection with Juan de Herrera, where the works are taking place. During this time, access to the underground car park at the Town Hall square remains open, along with the pedestrian crossing located at Juan de Herrera.
Additionally, starting at 22:30 this evening, resurfacing works will commence at the intersection of Calvo Sotelo and the area around the rainwater drainage grates on Jesús de Monasterio. To facilitate these night-time operations, traffic diversions will be implemented for vehicles heading towards the Town Hall, particularly at the Faro Santander roundabout and the intersections of Isabel II, Cervantes, and Lealtad. These night-time works are expected to conclude by 06:00 on Friday.
Furthermore, on the night of Sunday, 18 October, the final phase of the project will involve painting road markings in the affected areas. The City Council appreciates the cooperation and understanding of residents regarding the inconveniences these works may cause and advises drivers to pay attention to the temporary signage.
