The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has announced a contract for the reopening of the M-110 road in Alcobendas, Madrid, with a budget of €780,166 (including VAT). The initiative aims to restore the road to its condition prior to its closure, thereby improving mobility in the newly developed Valdebebas neighbourhood.
The announcement of the contract has been published on the Public Sector Contracting Platform (PLACSP) and will soon appear in the Official State Bulletin (BOE).
Details of the construction works
The construction works will focus on a 53-metre section of the M-110 road. Key tasks include:
- Removal of the existing mini roundabout.
- Removal of the rigid barrier that was installed to close the road, along with the associated vertical and horizontal signage.
- Reconstruction of the road surface affected by the removal of the mini roundabout.
- Installation of new vertical and horizontal signage to reflect the new road layout.
- Adjustment of the median in the affected section.
Furthermore, to ensure a uniform finish for the affected road section, a milling and replacement of the road surface will be carried out, involving a 5 cm thick layer of bituminous mixture.
This work will cover the entire stretch of the M-110 under state jurisdiction, from the roundabout located north of the airport to the connection with the M-12 road.
Through these efforts, the ministry aims to enhance mobility in the Valdebebas neighbourhood, reducing travel times and atmospheric emissions. This project is part of the state road network maintenance and conservation programme, which significantly contributes to improving the quality of existing road infrastructure.
