University of Alicante to host blood and bone marrow donation marathon

The University of Alicante (UA), in collaboration with the Alicante Blood Transfusion Centre, will hold a blood and bone marrow donation marathon on Tuesday, 20 October, and Wednesday, 21 October. The event will take place in several locations, including classrooms I and II, the Faculty of Sciences, Education, and at the Mobile Blood Donation Unit.

This initiative is part of the Healthy University programme, which has been running for several years in partnership with the Blood Transfusion Centre. It aims to raise awareness and promote health within the university community.

“Donating blood and bone marrow is a specific way to care for collective health and directly contribute to saving lives with a very simple gesture,”

said representatives from the Healthy University programme.

As an incentive for participation, the Blood Transfusion Centre will provide a T-shirt to all donors. Additionally, the Healthy University programme will raffle off 10 product bundles from the UA among participants, in collaboration with the Student Council of the University of Alicante (CEUA) to celebrate its 40th anniversary. The bundles will include a CEUA T-shirt, mug, notebook, bottle, bag, bracelet, and mobile phone holder.
