The hotel sector in Vigo is anticipating a busy weekend, with occupancy rates projected to hit 92% on Friday and 78% on Saturday. These figures reflect a significant increase in tourism activity in the city.
Abel Caballero, the mayor of Vigo, highlighted the positive occupancy data for mid-October, noting that such levels were unprecedented before the revitalisation of events like Nadal, O Marisquiño, and concerts at Castrelos, as well as the promotion of the Cíes Islands as a tourist destination.
Caballero emphasised that the high hotel occupancy rates observed throughout the year demonstrate that Vigo is becoming a “great tourist power,” offering “harmonious, friendly, and comfortable” tourism. He added that these figures translate into “millions in revenue for the city and job creation.”
