The Concello de Vigo is set to launch a new edition of the VigoFem cycle, which will host three cultural events from 20 to 22 October. The initiative was presented by the first deputy mayor and councillor for Historical Heritage, Culture and Equality, Carmela Silva, alongside the councillor for Equality and Commerce, Ana Laura Iglesias.
This municipal initiative, which showcases the contributions of women from Vigo and the surrounding area, aims to highlight and centre the role of women in culture. This edition is particularly special as it is dedicated to Isabel Blanco, a lawyer and artist who recently passed away. Carmela Silva described Blanco as a “feminist and cultural figure, full of ideas and a defender of women's rights.” She also noted that Blanco was the coordinator of this project and referred to her as an “irreplaceable” person.
Silva and Iglesias encouraged the public to attend this significant event for Vigo, which is curated by Silvia Penas, a friend of Isabel Blanco.
