The mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, has announced a series of educational and outreach initiatives that will take place until spring. These activities, aimed at both the general public and families, will be available throughout October, alongside a dedicated educational programme for schools while maintenance work is carried out at the centre until February.
Caballero highlighted the extensive offerings from VigoNature, which include a range of engaging activities linked to leisure and education. Every weekend in October, workshops focusing on nature, biodiversity, wildlife, gardening, and botany will be held. Additionally, topics such as astronomy, science, and experimentation will be explored through family-oriented workshops and experiences.
Special autumn-themed workshops on mycology, the traditional magosto (chestnut festival), and seasonal products like pumpkins are scheduled for the weekends of 24 and 31 October. Furthermore, a school-focused magosto event titled “El camino del castaño” will run from 2 to 27 November.
Caballero encouraged community participation in these programmes, which aim to enhance public understanding and enjoyment of nature.
