Vinaròs hosts the 14th edition of gàmesis gaming event

Vinaròs has officially launched the 14th edition of Gàmesis, a gathering dedicated to video games, which will run from 16 to 18 October at Vinalab. Throughout the weekend, attendees can engage in a diverse programme that combines digital entertainment, competition, innovation, and education within the gaming sector.

The opening ceremony was attended by Juan Amat, acting mayor of Vinaròs; Juanfran Calvo, councillor for Children, Family and Youth; and Llanos Massó, president of the Valencian Cortes. They emphasised the significance of this initiative in bringing the world of video games closer to the public and highlighting the professional opportunities available in the industry.

Acting mayor Juan Amat remarked, "Gàmesis is an event that speaks of video games, technology, innovation, and talent." He pointed out that behind every video game lies much more than mere entertainment, involving disciplines such as programming, design, music, narrative, and communication, as well as professionals capable of transforming ideas into projects.

Amat further noted that this initiative helps foster "a city that looks to the future, generates opportunities, and trusts in the talent of our youth," showcasing the potential of video games as a field for creative, technological, and professional development.

Juanfran Calvo, the councillor for Children, Family and Youth, explained that Gàmesis provides opportunities for all audiences to engage with the video game industry, both from the entertainment perspective and through creation and development. Among the highlights of this edition is the chance to exclusively test video games before their market release.

Additionally, the event will feature educational collaborations with Universitat Jaume I (UJI), which will present its degree in Game Development through a talk discussing its objectives and the career paths linked to these studies. Regarding the gaming area, Calvo announced an expansion of available spaces, with over 115 booths across various categories, including PC, Nintendo, arcade, and retro games, along with other offerings for gaming enthusiasts.

Calvo encouraged the public to participate and enjoy "this weekend of digital competition and great atmosphere." Llanos Massó, president of the Valencian Cortes, also highlighted the dual nature of this event, stating that video games involve significant development and programming work beyond just playing. She underscored that events like Gàmesis help to promote Vinaròs and the wider region.
