The XIV edition of the charity race ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’ will take place on Sunday, 25 October, at the Parque del Alamillo, bringing together 6,000 runners who have sold out their places in record time. This event has become a staple in Sevilla's sporting and social calendar, promoting community spirit and solidarity while raising funds for childhood cancer research.
During the event's presentation, María Tena, the Sports Delegate of the City Council, praised the city's solidarity and congratulated the organising team, led by Dr Rosa Cabello, for their commitment over the past fourteen editions. Tena remarked, “This race is a clear example of solidarity and how Sevilla responds whenever needed.”
She encouraged those who are unable to participate or who missed out on a place to continue supporting the initiative through the Dorsal 0, a donation option that allows everyone to contribute directly to cancer research. “Every contribution counts and goes directly to support research,” she added.
The race day will kick off at 10:30 with children’s races, where participants will cover distances ranging from 100 to 1,000 metres, depending on their age. The main race for adults is scheduled for 12:00 and will cover a distance of 5.2 kilometres, with no time limit for finishing.
The event will also feature a variety of recreational activities, including live performances, charity stalls, and a benefit food service, creating a festive atmosphere for all attendees.
Since its inception in 2013, initiated by professionals from the Pediatric Oncology department of the Hospital Infantil Virgen del Rocío and families of children undergoing treatment, ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’ has raised over €1.2 million. The funds, channelled through the SEHOP Foundation, support research and improve care for children and adolescents with cancer. Notable projects funded include clinical trials, the National Research Grant ‘Tus Kilómetros Nos Dan Vida’, the Spanish Childhood Tumour Registry (RETI), and various studies on paediatric tumours, as well as music therapy and physical activity initiatives for children in treatment.
