The Xunta de Galicia is moving forward with plans to connect the AG-57 motorway, which links Vigo and Baiona, to Clara Campoamor avenue. This development was discussed in a meeting on Thursday attended by Ana Ortiz, the regional delegate in Vigo; Luisa Sánchez, the vice president of the Provincial Council of Pontevedra; and Marián Mouriño, the president of Real Club Celta.
On 14 October, the Diario Oficial de Galicia published an announcement regarding the environmental impact report for the new infrastructure, which concluded that the construction works would not have significant adverse effects on the environment. The report determined that the project does not require a standard environmental impact assessment, indicating it will not cause significant landscape impact.
Ortiz noted that the planned works will be located near the University of Vigo campus and the Valladares Secondary Education Institute. The aim is to create a direct connection between the university and the metropolitan high-capacity network, which is expected to reduce traffic congestion on Clara Campoamor avenue, particularly during peak hours, facilitating access to the Parque Tecnolóxico e Loxístico da Zona Franca de Vigo and Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital.
Additionally, the project is designed to support the operations of the Factoría do Deporte Galego-Galicia Sports 360, aligning with the comprehensive development of the Proxecto de Interese Autonómico. The scope of the works includes the layout, earthworks, pavements, structures, and signage.
