Xunta de Galicia hosts training day for over 100 museum technicians focused on technology

On October 8, 2026, Anxo M. Lorenzo, the General Director of Culture, participated in the opening of the event titled Los museos en la encrucijada tecnológica: estrategias de gestión y comunicación at the Cidade da Cultura. This event brought together over 100 technical staff members from institutions within the Galician System of Museum Centers.

Lorenzo explained that the program focuses on familiarizing participants with essential tools for modernizing exhibition spaces, addressing topics related to the application of new technologies in heritage, such as photogrammetry and 3D printing, as well as strategies for digital management.

The training day features various specialists in digital communication, cultural and scientific dissemination, and innovation in heritage. They will share their experiences through presentations and roundtable discussions. Notable speakers include:

  • Javier Sáinz de los Terreros, Head of the Digital Communication Service at the Museo del Prado;
  • Lidia García Merenciano, archaeologist and writer specializing in scientific dissemination;
  • Nuria Rodríguez Ortega, PhD in Art History and specialist in Digital Humanities;
  • Néstor F. Marqués, archaeologist focused on applying technology to cultural heritage;
  • Miguel Ángel Cajigal, art historian and technician at the Museo Centro Gaiás.
