08/10/2026 The Xunta de Galicia is backing the new edition of the Desfoga Festival, which will take place from today until October 10 in Cambados. Organized by the Caracol Association, the Ministry of Culture, Language and Youth collaborates with this event that combines theater, dance, music, and cultural dissemination in emblematic spaces of the town, featuring Galician artists and focusing on language, memory, and diversity.
Jacob Sutil, the director general of the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries, participated in the presentation of this year's event, which introduces Laura Merchán, Nenaza, and Javier Sánchez, Maga-i, as the new artistic coordinators, succeeding Matías Daporta and Begoña Cuquejo. The project continues to emphasize interdisciplinary creation, community engagement, and the promotion of local heritage.
Three days of creation and encounter
Regarding the program, today, Thursday, October 8, the exhibition Mnemotopía by Elena Franesqui and Elara Elvira from Limia Crafts will open at the Casa de la Calzada. Following that, on Friday, October 9, at 20:00, Marcelo Dobode will lead Bienvenida Cuncanto, a musical parade starting from Plaza de San Gregorio. At 22:30, Raze will perform a concert at Krazzy Kray.
On Saturday, October 10, activities will begin at 12:30 with the cultural route Mar e iconos by Elena Franesqui and Elara Elvira, requiring prior registration at Casa de la Calzada. At 19:00, Eva Comesaña and Alejandra Balboa will present Al lado on San Tomé beach, a creation that connects dance with shellfish gathering and pays tribute to shellfish gatherers. At 20:30, Petra Porter will present Disforia: una mancha de piel ajena at the Youth Auditorium. The festival will conclude at 23:00 at Salón Peña with Q de Quiz by Maga-i and company, a theatrical game exploring the memory of Galician sexual dissent. Comedian Cata Ukelele will also share her experiences on social media as La Cara de Desfoga.
