Cultural association celebrates 42 years with an exhibition in daimiel

The Amigos del Arte cultural association will commemorate its 42 years of history with an exhibition featuring carnival costumes, trophies, and photographs that highlight its journey. The exhibition will open on Saturday, 24 October, at 12:00 at Hotel Las Tablas, remaining accessible until 30 October, both in the morning and afternoon.

The initiative aims to showcase the history of the daimieleña group and its involvement in local parades and festivities, as well as its cultural contributions. Darío Sánchez Camacho Expósito, a board member and social media coordinator for the association, shared insights during an interview with Radio Daimiel.

To organise the exhibition, members have contributed costumes and photographs from their personal collections, alongside trophies and memorabilia preserved by the association. Among the highlights of its history, Sánchez Camacho Expósito recalled a notable award received in 1997 in Ciudad Real, while emphasising that each year has brought significant memories for the group.

Over the past four decades, Amigos del Arte has expanded its role in the cultural life of Daimiel, participating in events such as the Three Kings Parade, Carnival, the VID Festival, and the Grape Harvest Festival. The exhibition is made possible with the support of Hotel Las Tablas, which has provided its facilities.

'The last heartbeats' theme for Carnival 2027

In addition to reflecting on its past, the association is already preparing for Carnival 2027, with the theme 'The last heartbeats'. This concept, proposed by a member and approved by the board, aims to raise awareness about endangered animal species and the importance of protecting biodiversity. The message will be conveyed through costumes, floats, music, and choreography, blending the festive nature of the parade with an environmental advocacy.

The preparations began before the summer, with the theme being decided at that time. Following the work related to the local fair, the association has resumed constructing floats and creating costumes, with designs already in place. Rehearsals are set to begin soon.

Sánchez Camacho Expósito also highlighted the role of social media in promoting the projects of Amigos del Arte and attracting new members. The publication of photographs, videos, and hints about the carnival theme has sparked interest among followers and encouraged new individuals to engage with the association.

The daimieleña association invites local residents to visit the exhibition and encourages those interested in joining to contact members through social media or visit their workspaces.
