Madrid celebrates Día de la Hispanidad with spectacular show at Cibeles

The iconic Plaza de Cibeles in Madrid was transformed into a vibrant celebration last night as the city marked Día de la Hispanidad with a dazzling pyrotechnic show. The event, attended by over 65,000 people, filled the night sky with light, colour, and music.

Marta Rivera de la Cruz, the city’s delegate for Culture, Tourism and Sport, attended the event and highlighted its significance. She stated that the show, held in one of Madrid's most emblematic spaces, served as a meeting point to “value the bonds we share with all Spanish-speaking countries.”

Rivera de la Cruz emphasised that the celebration is “open to everyone,” reflecting the welcoming, diverse, and culturally rich character of the city. The spectacular display combined music and fireworks in an audiovisual experience designed to honour the cultural, historical, and emotional connections between Spain and the Spanish-speaking world.

The musical selection featured a variety of rhythms and traditions from Hispanic cultures, accompanying the fireworks above one of Madrid's most famous landmarks. Attendees enjoyed performances of songs by renowned artists such as Juan Luis Guerra, Quevedo, Rocío Dúrcal, Juanes, Shakira, and Sebastián Yatra.
