The 2026 Patron Saint Festivities in Torrejón de Ardoz were marked by an excellent festive atmosphere and a carefully planned program that successfully blended tradition with spectacular entertainment, despite the rain.
One of the most praised highlights was the impressive performances by the Orquesta Panorama, Spain's number one orchestra, on Friday, and Orquesta La Misión, one of the country's best orchestras, on Saturday. Both orchestras exceeded expectations, delivering high-quality shows filled with popular musical hits at the Concert Venue in the fairgrounds.
Additionally, the festivities included a memorable concert by Los Chunguitos, who celebrated their 50+1 anniversary with a packed audience in the Plaza Mayor, singing along to their classics such as Dame veneno and Me quedo contigo. A special mention goes to Bertín Osborne, who also performed in the same venue.
Decades of tradition were honored during the Floral Offering to the Virgen del Rosario Coronada, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. During this event, the patron saint was named Honorary Mayor of the city by the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto.
The festivities also catered to younger attendees with the Moonkey Party, featuring DJs José de las Heras and Jorge Vaquero on Friday, and José del Puerto and Chema Fuentes on Saturday.
“I want to thank the people of Torrejón for their participation and civic behavior during our Patron Saint Festivities, as well as all those who work to ensure we can enjoy them peacefully, including municipal workers, security forces, health services, the Brotherhood of the Virgen del Rosario Coronada, and our local groups who played a fundamental role,” said Mayor Alejandro Navarro Prieto.
The XI Meeting of Giants and Big Heads attracted 17 groups from various locations in Spain, Portugal, and Andorra, solidifying its status as the largest gathering of its kind in the Community of Madrid and one of the most significant nationwide. The organizational success was made possible by the involvement of over 600 people who contributed to the unique parade, which featured nearly 50 oversized characters, some exceeding four meters in height and weighing between 30 and 45 kilograms.
Despite the rain, most scheduled activities proceeded as planned, although military weather forecasts advised against holding the Flag Tribute ceremony. Overall, the festivities were conducted with tranquility and normalcy, with no significant incidents reported, marking a notable reduction in issues compared to previous years. However, one individual was arrested for allegedly stealing a mobile phone and attempting to steal another device.
The festivities concluded with a spectacular fireworks display following the procession of the Virgen del Rosario Coronada, providing a fitting end to an unforgettable celebration.
