On October 5, 2026, Mayor Abel Caballero announced a significant rise in hotel occupancy in Vigo, reaching an average of over 87% in September. This marks a 24-point increase in hospitality activity compared to the same month in the previous year. "It is undeniable that we had the best September in the history of the city for tourism," he stated.

Data provided by hotels to the Concello de Vigo indicates that 8% of visitors are from Galicia, while 39% come from various autonomous communities within Spain, and the remaining 53% are international travelers. The mayor noted a notable influx of visitors from Portugal, the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Caballero emphasized that, due to these figures, Vigo is the most important tourist city in all of Galicia. He also reminded that tourism and hospitality generate "wealth, salaries, and employment."
