In celebration of its patron, San Alberto, the Faculty of Biology has announced the 23rd edition of its Scientific Photography Competition. The competition is open to all members of the university community, with submissions accepted from 2 to 6 November.
This annual event coincides with the celebration of San Alberto, the patron saint of natural sciences. Participants are invited to submit images on any theme related to scientific photography. Works must be delivered to the library in the Experimental Sciences building.
Each author may submit a maximum of three original, unpublished works, which can be in black and white or colour and created using any technique. The minimum size for photographs is 10 x 15 cm, while the maximum is 20 x 30 cm. All entries must be mounted on card with a frame of at least 2 cm, displaying the title of the work.
Participants are required to submit two sealed envelopes: one labelled “obra” containing the works identified by a pseudonym, and another marked with the chosen pseudonym, which should include the author's name, phone number, email address, and the faculty they belong to, including their course and studies if they are a student.
The submitted works will be displayed in an exhibition open to the public from 13 November, coinciding with the celebration of San Alberto, during which the winning photographs will be announced. The first prize is worth €250, the second €150, and three third prizes of €100 each will also be awarded. A jury composed of two representatives from the teaching staff, one from the administrative staff, and two student representatives will make the final decision.
