Vigo demands Audasa pay 120,000 euros in property tax for AP9

The mayor highlighted that the toll road operator has owed this amount to the city council since 2023, following the end of a long-standing exemption that began in 1972.

Vigo demands Audasa pay 120,000 euros in property tax for AP9

The mayor of Vigo has called on Audasa, the operator of the AP9 toll road, to pay a debt of 120,000 euros in property tax (IBI) that has been outstanding since 2023. This demand comes after the termination of a tax exemption that the company had enjoyed since 1972.

During a press conference on Thursday, the mayor stated, “The bonuses and favours from the Franco era are over,” emphasising the importance of the city council receiving the owed amount. He explained that the council had sent Audasa the IBI settlement for 2023, which includes the months that remained unpaid after the exemption ended.

The invoice issued totals 120,000 euros, while Audasa's annual property tax payment is typically 383,000 euros. Previously, the company paid only 18,407 euros due to a 95% reduction in IBI under a law from the Franco regime, which allowed it to pay just 5% of the tax owed. Mayor Caballero noted that with the end of the exemption, Audasa is now required to pay the full amount.
