Cámaras de comercio in Ceuta launch pilot project to support local businesses with artificial intelligence

The General Assembly of Chambers of Commerce has convened in Ceuta to express solidarity with the local community and businesses, approving a pilot project called Cámaras IA to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in adopting artificial intelligence (AI).

Presided over by José Luis Bonet, president of the Cámara de España (Chamber of Spain), the assembly was attended by various territorial chamber presidents. Ceuta's president, Juan Vivas, welcomed the attendees, highlighting the challenging times the autonomous city is facing and the need for support from across Spain.

“This moment, which I have defined as the most difficult in the history of the city, needs the warmth, solidarity, encouragement, and support of the rest of Spain,” Vivas stated.

Bonet conveyed a message of friendship and encouragement, asserting that Ceuta is an integral part of Spain. He expressed confidence in the city’s resilience and the ongoing efforts of local institutions, including the Chamber of Commerce, to revitalise the economy.

“We have full confidence in the city’s ability to recover, in the resilience and determination of the people of Ceuta, and in the tireless work being done by institutions to restore activity and emerge even stronger from this crisis,” Bonet said.

Karim Bulaix, president of the Chamber of Ceuta, emphasised the importance of not only responding to the current crisis but also advancing towards a future that embraces new technologies, blue economy, and green economy initiatives.

About the Cámaras IA project

The Cámaras IA project, spearheaded by the Ceuta Chamber of Commerce, aims to facilitate the integration of AI into SMEs, addressing a significant challenge faced by many businesses in Spain. The pilot will involve ten chambers of commerce, including those from Alicante, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Huelva, Málaga, Murcia, Sevilla, Almería, Tarragona, and Valencia.

The initiative will provide specialised advice and advanced computing resources, enabling SMEs to test solutions, adapt tools, and develop their own applications. This will allow businesses to leverage their data and industry knowledge to enhance processes, develop products, and explore new commercial opportunities.

Technical support will help companies assess the utility of each application before integrating it into their operations. The pilot period will identify specific business needs and validate the services offered by the Ceuta Chamber's Generative Artificial Intelligence Computing Centre, which will serve as the project's technological backbone.

This agreement positions Ceuta at the forefront of a national initiative for business transformation, fostering specialised technological services and enhancing its capacity to attract projects and investment.

The launch of the Cámaras IA pilot project represents a concrete commitment from the chamber network to innovation and economic diversification, reinforcing confidence in Ceuta and promoting an image of the city as a hub for knowledge and advanced services.
