The Consell de Mallorca is set to launch the latest edition of Concerts a Palau, a series of performances taking place at the main headquarters of the island's institution, the Palau del Consell. Following the success of the inaugural edition, the plenary hall will once again host four concerts with a variety of themes, beginning this Friday, 23 October, and continuing through November and December.
This year’s Concerts a Palau features four ensembles that will present a broad and varied repertoire, ranging from classical music to pop and rock, including a choral concert and musical fusions.
Concert schedule
The series will kick off with the performance titled Calidoscopi musical, featuring soloists from the Cercle Líric Balear and the Orfeó de Mallorca, accompanied by piano in an evening dedicated to vocal music. The ensemble will deliver a specially curated repertoire, including a cappella pieces and those accompanied by piano, featuring arias and duets developed during the singers' academic meetings.
The second concert will be performed by the Coral Sor Francinaina, a choir founded in 1987 known for its diverse repertoire, which includes vocal polyphony from various eras, covering both sacred and secular themes, along with many examples of traditional Mallorcan music.
Following this, the duo of soprano Raquel Llera and pianist Daniel Mulet will take the stage, offering an evening of operatic arias, zarzuela, lied, and romantic Catalan songs.
The series will conclude with a performance by the Mallorcan band T-Makers. Hailing from Algaida, the group—comprising Pazzis Veiret (vocals and bass), Xesc Carbonell (guitar and vocals), Moncho Martín (guitar and vocals), and Mats Lindholm (drums)—brings a rock sound influenced by the 1950s and 60s, promising an energetic live show designed to get audiences dancing.
