The council of Mérida has received nearly 400 applications as part of its initiative to provide financial support for local commerce, tourism, and hospitality. Of the applications submitted, 185 are for the first funding line, known as Consumption Vouchers, which aims to encourage spending in retail through discount vouchers. Meanwhile, 191 applications fall under the second line of support, designed to assist self-employed individuals and workers in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Each funding line has a budget of €1 million, bringing the total allocation for this initiative to €2 million. The primary goal is to boost Mérida's economic activity and support local businesses.
The application process is currently in the phase of addressing any deficiencies, during which submitted documents are reviewed and additional required documentation is requested to complete the administrative processing. The council anticipates that the consumption voucher campaign will be available to the public in November, following the completion of the deficiency resolution process and necessary administrative procedures.
This initiative aims to stimulate economic activity in Mérida, encourage shopping at local establishments, and strengthen the proximity commerce sector, which is vital for the local economy and the daily life of neighbourhoods. Through this campaign, the council of Mérida reaffirms its commitment to local businesses and the development of measures that support the business community and enhance the city’s economic activity.
