Gijón, Spain – The Gijón/Xixón City Council, in collaboration with the University Institute of Space Sciences and Technologies of Asturias (ICTEA) and the Gijón School of Marine Studies, is set to reopen the Planetarium with a series of nine weekly sessions running from October to December.
The introductory program to astronomy and space sciences is designed for the general public and will commence on October 7. Each session will accommodate a maximum of 40 participants, and registrations are currently open via the Gijón app and the official website www.gijon.es/app.
Each session will last approximately 45 minutes, which includes around 10 minutes for audience participation and questions, as well as time for orderly entry and exit of groups. The content and format of the activities will be tailored to suit a diverse audience, including families, students, and adults, regardless of their prior knowledge.
During the experience, attendees will embark on a journey from the origin of the universe and the birth of the first stars to the formation of our immediate surroundings. This exploration will cover various elements of the Solar System and their unique characteristics, addressing significant topics in astrophysics such as the functioning of stars, the dimensions of the cosmos, and the latest frontiers in space research.
The initiative aims to spark scientific curiosity, enhance observational skills, and promote interest in science, space, and the understanding of the universe. The sessions will be led by researchers from ICTEA, who possess expertise in both space sciences and scientific communication.
