The Fuerteventura Island Tourism Board held a working session at the Hotel El Mirador in Puerto del Rosario, attended by Ricard Querol, the general director for tourism organisations and airports at the British group Jet2, and around fifty tourism professionals from the island.
The session addressed quality and loyalty factors that impact the competitiveness of the destination in the British market. Attendees included hoteliers, tour operator representatives, and municipal tourism officials, who gathered to analyse the current demand from British tourists.
Querol's presentation covered customer satisfaction levels for Jet2 in destinations like Fuerteventura, the factors influencing British traveller loyalty, and trends in a market increasingly focused on quality experiences.
This event continues the collaborative efforts between the Tourism Board and Jet2, a prominent operator in the British market for Fuerteventura. It follows the Board's participation in a convention held by the company in Leeds on 30 September.
Among the topics discussed was the forecast for a slight adjustment in seat availability for the winter 2026/27 season, amid evolving demand and rising costs. The Board shared this information with industry professionals as part of its ongoing monitoring of source markets, aiming to facilitate planning and adapt offerings according to seasonal expectations.
Marlene Figueroa, the Tourism Councillor for the Fuerteventura Island Council and vice-president of the Tourism Board, highlighted the importance of understanding how one of the main British operators evaluates the island. She stated, “We cannot miss the opportunity to learn from this feedback. Fuerteventura's competitiveness in the UK market is built on information and the sector's responsiveness.”
Figueroa also noted that “the British market demands quality and loyalty, not just volume. This is precisely the direction the Board is working towards, and the message we wanted to convey to the entire tourism sector on the island today.” The session provided an opportunity to share insights on the British market's outlook for the upcoming season and the factors influencing customer satisfaction and loyalty.
