Valdepeñas is preparing to celebrate the 47th Flamenco Art Festival, bringing together prominent figures in flamenco such as the acclaimed dancer La Lupi and the singer Antonio Reyes. The event is part of the autumn cultural programme organised by the Valdepeñas Town Hall and will take place on Saturday, 24 October, at 20:30 at the Francisco Nieva Auditorium.

The festival is organised in collaboration with the Virgen de la Cabeza Flamenco Association and promises a vibrant showcase of dance, song, and musical accompaniment. Vanessa Irla, the Deputy Mayor for Culture, expressed the council's commitment to providing a diverse cultural programme throughout the year, stating, “We always strive to ensure our programming is varied and caters to all audiences.” She added that this festival aims to engage the local community, which has a strong passion for flamenco.

Carmelo Rosales, president of the Virgen de la Cabeza Cultural Association, highlighted La Lupi's participation, noting her status as a leading figure in dance. He remarked, “She has been a professional since childhood, starting with dance companies and later forming her own to tour theatres across the country and worldwide.” Rosales also acknowledged La Lupi's significant media presence, which has established her as a contemporary dance icon.

Antonio Reyes, who is returning to the festival for the second time, has a long-standing career in flamenco and has received numerous accolades, including several nominations for the Latin Grammy Awards. During the festival, La Lupi will be accompanied by Alfredo Tejada and José M. Fernández on vocals, with Curro de María on guitar. Antonio Reyes will perform alongside guitarist Antonio Carrión, with Tate Núñez and Ramón Reyes providing handclaps.

Tickets for the event are priced at 15 euros and can be purchased at the Centro Cultural La Confianza and Ahorro Luz Valdepeñas, located on Calle Escuelas.
