Local authors showcase their work at benalmádena de letras event

A total of 38 local writers are participating today in the ‘Benalmádena de Letras’ event, which aims to promote literature in the area. Organised by the Benalmádena Association of Merchants and Entrepreneurs (ACEB) and the Open Shopping Centre Association of Benalmádena (ACCAB), the event is being held in shops along Calle Sol, Calle Luna, Calle San Antonio, and Calle Félix Solesio in Arroyo de la Miel.

This marks the fourth consecutive year for the event, designed to invigorate local businesses by providing authors with a platform to showcase their works and allowing residents and visitors to purchase signed copies. José Antonio García, the Secretary-General of ACEB and ACCAB, attended the event alongside members of the Board of Directors, the manager of ACEB and ACCAB, and local councillors for commerce and culture, Raúl Campos and Jésica Trujillo, respectively, as well as representatives from the Benalmádena Network of Libraries.

The event has received support from several local publishers and bookstores, including Applehead Team Creaciones, Librería Papelería Arte Nova, Papelería Los Mundos de Zoe, and Yeru Librería y Papelería Diego. Due to the high participation of writers this year, the event will run throughout the day, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00.

The primary goal of the event is to highlight local literary talent, encourage reading among the community, and support local authors while also boosting the commercial activity in the area. A social media competition is also taking place, where participants are encouraged to post photos of authors signing their books on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #benalmadenadetras. The photo with the most ‘likes’ will win a €30 gift voucher for Librería Papelería Arte-Nova.

Students from various secondary schools in Benalmádena, including Ibn-Al-Baytar, Cerro del Viento, and Poetas Andaluces, as well as Colegio Maravillas, have also participated in the event by reading excerpts from local authors' works. The winner of this reading competition will receive a €30 gift voucher donated by Papelería Los Mundos de Zoe.

As a complementary activity, local artist ‘Cien-One Hundred’ is offering a live painting session at The Room Tattoo in the afternoon.
