The Library Department of the Ontinyent City Council will hold the family-friendly activity 'El tresor de l’Encantada' on 27 October, featuring the Disparatario Company. This event is part of the autumn reading programme 'Llegint creixem'.
Nico Calabuig, the city’s Library Councillor, highlighted the significance of the performance, which is based on a book of the same name. He described it as a journey through the popular Valencian imagination, coinciding with the celebration of Library Day on 24 October.
“The autumn programme of 'Llegint creixem' will offer many interesting and diverse activities. In this case, 'El tresor de l’Encantada' will be a show based on the book by Alicia Rubio and Joanra Estellés,” Calabuig stated.
The performance will utilise the Japanese storytelling method known as 'kamishibai', incorporating objects and shadows to narrate the story of two girls embarking on a legendary journey through Valencian folklore. Calabuig noted that it promises to be a delightful adventure for young audiences.
The event is scheduled to take place at the Sant Rafel Library at 17:30 and is aimed at families with children aged three and older. Calabuig emphasised the importance of engaging with books and reading at any stage of life.
“We wanted this activity to coincide with Library Day to highlight the role these spaces play in promoting culture, healthy leisure, critical thinking, and imagination. We invite everyone to participate and enjoy this performance,” he added.
Additionally, Calabuig welcomed Inno Muñoz, the new caretaker of the Sant Rafel Library, who has joined the team with enthusiasm. He expressed confidence that Muñoz's kindness and dedication will contribute to the stability of the Library Department and the service provided to the Sant Rafel community.
