This weekend, the Sala Gomis in Ontinyent will host the contemporary dance performance 'Dominare', presented by the acclaimed Valencian company Maduixa Teatre, on Sunday 1 November at 19:00.
Àlex Borrell, the city’s Councillor for Culture, highlighted that including this production in the programme allows for a high-level contemporary dance performance with significant visual and reflective power. He noted that hosting a company with the reputation of Maduixa Teatre strengthens an autumn programme designed for all audiences, combining renowned national names with award-winning Valencian talent. Borrell recalled the positive reception of the Prismàtica street dance festival held from 9 to 11 October, which showcased the local community's appreciation for dance.
'Dominare' is the latest creation from Maduixa Teatre, a text-free performance that explores themes of power, control, and abuse through movement, staging, and striking visual elements. Described as 'intense and poetic', the piece invites audience reflection and is noted for its physical spectacularity.
Maduixa Teatre boasts an international profile, having received over 20 awards, including three MAX Awards and five FETEN Awards, and has participated in festivals across more than 40 countries.
Tickets for the performance are priced at €6 and can be purchased at the Casa de Cultura and the Caixa Ontinyent website.
The municipal autumn programme will continue with the 41st International Puppet Show of the Vall d’Albaida in November, followed by a jazz and cinema concert by Babalú Band in December. Additionally, there will be a closing event on 3 January featuring Wilbur, a former acrobat from Cirque du Soleil and Spanish champion of acrosport.
