The 17th edition of the Encuentro de Casas Regionales y Provinciales was inaugurated in Sevilla, honouring the Hogar Canario, a cultural association representing the Canary Islands. The event is taking place from 9 to 12 October at the Jardines de Murillo, a public park known for its lush greenery and historical significance.

Juan Bueno, the delegate for Finance, Administration and Digital Transformation, presided over the inauguration held at the Salón Colón of the City Hall. Antonio Domenech, president of the Federation of Regional Houses, welcomed attendees, which included Esther María Monzón, the Health Councillor of the Canary Islands government, and Purificación Benavente, president of the Hogar Canario. Historian Marcos Pacheco Morales-Padrón delivered the opening speech for this year's edition.

Following the inaugural ceremony, the Giraldillos de Honor awards were presented in the Jardines de Murillo. The event will conclude on 12 October, coinciding with Spain's National Day, featuring a performance by the Hogar Canario's music group and an official closing ceremony.

This year’s meeting, organised by the Sevilla City Council in collaboration with the Federation of Regional Houses, marks the second time it has been held at the Jardines de Murillo. The event brings together 16 regional, provincial, and autonomous city houses active in Sevilla, each providing information on tourism and showcasing local cuisine. A central marquee will host musical performances and traditional folklore throughout the weekend, with all activities being free and accessible to the public.

This edition particularly celebrates the Hogar Canario, which is commemorating its 30th anniversary since its founding on 11 May 1996. The event will feature an exhibition space dedicated to the eight Canary Islands and a traditional games area. Performances will include the comparsa Los Cariocas from Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the Asociación Folklórica Tamaima from Gran Canaria, among others.

“Thirty years of the Hogar Canario represent thirty years of uniting the Canary Islands and Sevilla through culture and coexistence. This tribute is a way to thank them for their contributions to our city,” said Juan Bueno, encouraging all Sevillians to participate in this free event running until 12 October. “The 17th Encuentro de Casas Regionales y Provinciales in Sevilla is a significant event that promotes recreational and cultural activities reflecting the diversity of our culture, gastronomy, and tourism from various regions of Spain, fostering community engagement,” he added.
