Sevilla mayor invests over 460,000 euros in sports facility upgrades

The mayor of Sevilla, José Luis Sanz, has overseen the completion of a significant renovation project at the Centro Deportivo Las Almenas, which has involved an investment exceeding 460,000 euros.

The most notable aspect of the project is the transformation of the football pitch, where the old dirt surface has been replaced with a state-of-the-art synthetic grass pitch. This upgrade also includes a comprehensive maintenance service for the new playing surface.

The installation process involved laying a double asphalt layer as a base, followed by an elastic base, organic filling, and the artificial grass itself. Additionally, a fully automated irrigation system has been installed, featuring treatment against legionella.

To enhance safety, a perimeter railing has been added to separate the playing area from the spectator zone, along with metal structures equipped with nets to catch stray balls.

This renovation of the football pitch complements the recent upgrade of the padel court's artificial grass, which cost 8,500 euros and includes a three-year maintenance contract.

Furthermore, the comprehensive renovation of the sports centre has also included a complete overhaul of the changing rooms, carried out with the resources and personnel of the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD), valued at approximately 6,000 euros.

With this latest investment, the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla has now allocated over 21 million euros to sports facilities across the city in just three years.
