Teatro Jovellanos, in collaboration with Divertia Gijón, has initiated the 22nd edition of the Jovellanos Prize, aimed at encouraging artistic creation and supporting the production of professional performances linked to the cultural fabric of the city.
The prize is open to companies and professional theatre and dance groups with tax residency in Gijón, featuring a financial contribution of €21,000 to cover production and promotion costs of the selected performance.
The jury will assess various factors, including artistic interest, project viability, the track record of the company, and the involvement of Asturian professionals in different aspects of the performance's realisation. Preference will be given to proposals that are newly created.
Projects can be submitted until 29 January 2027, at 14:00, at the Divertia headquarters located at Calle Cabrales, 82. The results will be announced on 1 April 2027, and the chosen production will premiere at Teatro Jovellanos on 25 September 2027.
