The council of Torrevieja has awarded the comprehensive management of the Municipal Theatre, the International Auditorium of Music, and the Floating Museums to ESATUR XXI S.L.U. for a total of €2,776,492, including VAT. This contract has an initial duration of one year, with the possibility of extending it for up to three additional years.
The decision follows a competitive bidding process, where the company achieved an impressive score of 98.75 out of 100. The evaluation committee praised the company’s cultural programming plans, operational organisation, and marketing strategies.
Comprehensive management for key cultural venues
This contract establishes a framework for the joint management of three of Torrevieja's main cultural and tourist facilities, aiming to ensure their effective operation, provide diverse programming, and enhance service for both residents and visitors. The management will integrate artistic and cultural activities with the necessary technical, administrative, and maintenance tasks required for the venues.
Stable programming at the municipal theatre
At the Municipal Theatre, the contract includes the development of a stable cultural programme featuring various disciplines and formats, including theatre, dance, opera, music, cinema, and conferences. The awarded company will take full responsibility for managing the spaces, overseeing administration and technical supervision, as well as cleaning, maintenance, and security services.
This structure will facilitate coordination between programming and operational needs, ensuring optimal conditions for performances and events. The aim is to maintain a varied offering that caters to different interests and to establish the Municipal Theatre as a cultural hub for the city.
Musical activities and congress hosting at the auditorium
The International Auditorium of Torrevieja will focus on symphonic, musical, and chamber programming, alongside other compatible events. Special attention will be given to its capacity to host congresses, fairs, conventions, and professional meetings, thereby enhancing the city’s appeal as a destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE).
This combination of cultural activities and professional gatherings is expected to diversify the use of these facilities and attract audiences interested in both music and congress activities.
Specialised services at the floating museums
At the Floating Museums, the management will ensure regular opening and closing of the facilities, access control, ticket management, and cultural information for visitors. These services will be provided by specialised staff, including guides with advanced training in history and tourism, as well as language accreditation.
This approach will help to bring local maritime heritage closer to diverse audiences and enhance understanding among both national and international visitors.
Following the approval of the contract, the formalisation will mark the beginning of a new phase in the execution of these services. Through this initiative, the Torrevieja council, via the Municipal Institute of Culture, aims to strengthen the management of its key cultural spaces, linking artistic programming, equipment maintenance, and public service with tourism promotion and economic contribution to the municipality.
