The Francisco Nieva Municipal Auditorium in Valdepeñas is set to host the comedy ‘El Eunuco’ this weekend, with performances scheduled for Friday 16 and Saturday 17 at 20:00. The production is part of the Autumn Cultural Programme organised by the Valdepeñas Town Hall.
‘El Eunuco’ is a free adaptation by Jordi Sánchez and Pep Antón Gómez, based on the classic comedy by Terence. The story unfolds in ancient Athens and follows a young man who falls in love with a slave owned by a prostitute. When he learns that his older brother has purchased a eunuch as a gift for her, he decides to disguise himself as the eunuch to get closer to the woman he loves. This leads to a series of misunderstandings, deceptions, and absurd situations involving maids, soldiers, lovers, and other eccentric characters.
Directed by José María Abarca and Francisco Ramón Moya, the cast includes Lourdes Pérez, Ángela Sánchez Molero, María Pérez, Erre Jiménez, Julián Gómez, Francisco Ramón Moya, Julia Cejudo, Guillermo Márquez, and José María Abarca. The play promises a comical and delightful exploration of love, which serves as the driving force behind the ensuing chaos and misunderstandings.
Tickets are available for €5 at the Cultural Centre “La Confianza”, on www.giglon.com, and at the theatre box office one hour before the performance.
