Abel Caballero, the mayor of Vigo, participated in a demonstration on Friday alongside parents, students, and teachers from Vila Laura Infant School. The protest aimed to urge the Xunta de Galicia, the regional government, to provide the school with a support teacher that has been lacking since the beginning of the academic year.
During the fifth mobilisation, Caballero emphasised what he described as the "total abandonment" of education in Vigo by the regional government. He highlighted the urgent need for the Ministry of Education to assign a support teacher to the school, which caters to children aged between three and six years.
“It is unacceptable for a school to be without a teacher, and the Xunta de Galicia refuses to address this issue,” Caballero stated, sharing the parents' association's dissatisfaction with a score of "0" assigned to the Ministry of Education. He also conveyed the message that "Vila Laura knows how to count," underscoring the importance of educational support for young children.
