The city council of A Coruña, through the Department of Social Welfare, Participation and Equality, has organised a series of Samaín activities, including twelve children's parties and nine craft workshops at municipal civic centres. These events will take place on 30 and 31 October, as well as on 7 November, catering to children aged 4 to 12 years.
Participation in the activities is free, but prior registration is required at the concierge of each civic centre hosting the events. Registration will begin on 22 October, with places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until full capacity is reached. Children must be accompanied by an adult responsible for them.
The twelve children's parties will feature face painting and balloon twisting, lasting for three hours. The festivities will commence on 30 October at civic centres in Palavea, San Diego, Cidade Vella, and Mesoiro; continue on 31 October at Monelos, Castrillón, Os Rosais, and Monte Alto; and conclude on 7 November at the Mallos, Eirís, Elviña, and Novoboandanza. All events will run from 17:00 to 20:00, except for the one in Mesoiro, which will take place from 18:45 to 21:45.
The nine workshops will include storytelling sessions and will last for one hour and forty-five minutes. They will offer five creative activities for children to make and personalise Samaín decorations and characters using materials such as card, tracing paper, cardboard tubes, and wool. In the "Samaín magic lanterns" workshop, children will create decorative lanterns with themed silhouettes, while "Fun Samaín monsters" will allow them to build small characters using cardboard and accessories. Other workshops include "Masks of the souls" for making and decorating masks; "Samaín night mobiles", featuring hanging structures of moons, stars, ghosts, and autumn motifs; and "Flying bats of Samaín", which will involve crafting figures with movable wings operated by a string.
