Albacete's intergenerational route celebrates local heritage

The councillor for youth in Albacete, Gala de la Calzada, has emphasised the importance of connecting local youth with the city's heritage through cultural and alternative leisure activities. The II intergenerational night route, titled 'Albacete de leyenda', took place recently, showcasing various emblematic sites across the capital.

De la Calzada praised the initiative, organised by the Centro Joven, for providing a unique perspective on the city that blends heritage, literature, and youthful imagination. This year, the event attracted 25 participants aged between 12 and 30, alongside 30 senior citizens.

Under the guidance of cultural facilitator Eva López, participants explored notable locations in Albacete while uncovering stories inspired by the creativity of the younger generation, thus fostering a collective imagination.

The councillor noted that this initiative stems from the literary contest 'Raíces y Alas', part of the Voz Joven project, where over 90 young people from Albacete crafted legends inspired by the urban heritage of the city. These narratives creatively linked well-known elements, such as the nail of the Pasaje de Lodares with giants that once inhabited the area, and the statue of the fisherman in Parque Abelardo Sánchez with lost souls from the Spanish Civil War.
