Radiotelevisión Canaria is set to closely follow the inauguration and ongoing developments of the World Travel Market (WTM), one of the world's leading tourism fairs, in which the Canary Islands will participate. Special correspondents Isabel Baeza from Televisión Canaria and Tomás Galván from La Radio Canaria will be sent to London for the event.
The WTM will take place from 3 to 5 November at the ExCeL London exhibition centre, with expectations of over 46,000 attendees, 4,000 exhibitors, and 5,500 buyers from more than 180 countries. This edition of the fair will focus on travel technology (WTM Travel Tech), sustainability, global industry trends, and B2B networking.
Isabel Baeza, accompanied by image operator Javier Almeida and producer Diego Peña, will provide live connections on 3 and 4 November across all news segments of Televisión Canaria. Programmes such as Buenos Días Canarias, Telenoticias 1, and Telenoticias 2 will feature extensive coverage of the event, including interviews with key figures such as Jessica de León, the Tourism Minister of the Government of the Canary Islands, José Juan Lorenzo, the manager of Promotur Turismo de Canarias, and representatives from various tourism associations.
Tomás Galván, presenter of De la Noche al Día, will also travel to London to provide updates on the fair during the morning programme and other news segments of La Radio Canaria. He will connect with Canarias a la 1, Roscas y Cotufas, and Canarias al cierre on 3 and 4 November.
The primary objective of the Canary Islands' participation in the WTM is to strengthen and consolidate the British market, which is the main source of tourists for the archipelago. This effort aims to enhance air connectivity for the winter season 2026/27, promote sustainability at the destination, and encourage tourism innovation.
Throughout the three days, representatives from destinations, accommodations, travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, technology companies, media, and public organisations will engage in professional meetings, presentations, networking activities, and specialised sessions.
