The Javier Hernanz Sports Centre in Arriondas, located in the municipality of Parres, hosted a new training day in Kobudo on 16 October. This traditional martial arts discipline focuses on the handling of various weapons. The session was led by instructors Pablo Fernández and Andrés López and was organised by Club Tode in partnership with the Parres Town Council and the Asturian Federation of Karate and Associated Disciplines (FAKYDA).
This event marked the second course in the current season's training cycle, attracting practitioners keen to refine their techniques and deepen their understanding of this martial art form.
A focus on Bo techniques
The training specifically concentrated on the Bo, a traditional long staff, through the study and practice of the katas Shushi no Kon and Sakugawa no Kon. These technical sequences allow participants to enhance their mastery of the weapon, improve their movement coordination, precision, and body control.
The sessions are part of a specialisation programme aimed at preparing participants for the attainment of the Black Belt in Kobudo from the Royal Spanish Federation of Karate and Associated Disciplines. Such focused meetings enable practitioners to work on specific aspects of the discipline, reinforcing their acquired knowledge and continuing their athletic development.
