The Plenary of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura has approved a budget allocation exceeding 4 million euros to support the island's business fabric, primary sector, and other priority issues. This decision was made during a session held on 30 October 2026.
Among the allocations, 250,000 euros will be directed towards enhancing hiring incentives provided by the Ministry of Economic Promotion, aimed at improving employability across the island's businesses. Additionally, 404,394.50 euros will be allocated to a collaboration agreement with the University Foundation of Las Palmas (FULP) for professional internship programmes for university graduates and vocational training students in Fuerteventura.
The Ministry of New Technologies will also contribute 45,211.94 euros to the OMOTENSHI association to fund the 'FTV Gamer Fest' project. All these initiatives are part of the FDCAN Fuerteventura 2023-2027 programme.
Support for the primary sector
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries has earmarked funds for the Regulatory Council of the Protected Designation of Origin (DOP) Majorero Cheese, along with 20,000 euros for each of the local fishing guilds to assist with operational expenses. Furthermore, 15,000 euros will be allocated to finance the development of a historical mapping plan for indigenous agricultural varieties in Fuerteventura, which will serve as the initial phase of a larger project to establish a seed bank managed by the Cabildo de Fuerteventura.
Credits will also be made available to facilitate the attendance of primary sector professionals at events such as the XV National Goat Forum and the World Cheese Awards 2026.
Tourism promotion
In terms of tourism, the Tourism Board has allocated 70,000 euros for the promotion of the Kite Festival in La Oliva, as well as for the Chamber of Commerce of Fuerteventura to carry out promotional activities in both national and international markets.
During the plenary session, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims of the recent train accident in Toledo, as a gesture of respect and condolence to their families and loved ones.
