The Casa de la Juventud in Colmenar Viejo is set to host a range of activities to celebrate Halloween, featuring a haunted house themed around a zombie apocalypse, cooking and makeup workshops, and a collective dance to Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'. The main Halloween celebration will occur on Saturday, 31 October, at the Las Huertas Fairgrounds, showcasing eerie decorations, terrifying performances, and a variety of musical styles.
Halloween terror days at Casa de la Juventud
The Casa de la Juventud has planned a series of Halloween terror days, which include a haunted house, cooking workshops, and makeup sessions for children. On Friday, 23 October, from 17:30 to 19:30, a monstrous cooking workshop and a Halloween makeup workshop will be available for children aged 8 to 12, with a fee of €5 per child and prior registration required.
On Saturday, 24 October, the monstrous cooking workshop will continue for children aged 8 to 12, alongside a family Halloween makeup workshop for children aged 5 to 11. On Friday, 30 October, and Saturday, 31 October, the haunted house will feature an apocalyptic scenario where a virus has escaped from a laboratory, turning people into zombies. There will be two sessions each day: the first from 17:30 to 20:00 for children aged 8 to 12 (with younger children needing to be accompanied by an adult), and the second from 20:00 onwards for those aged 12 and above. Entry to the haunted house is free.
Sixty per cent of the passes will be distributed in advance (with a maximum of four per person) at the Casa de la Juventud on 26, 27, and 28 October, starting at 17:30. The remaining tickets will be available on the day, on a first-come, first-served basis. During the break in the haunted house on 30 October, something spine-chilling will occur. On 31 October, the 'Thriller' dance will invite residents of all ages to dress up and join in, taking place on Calle Padre Claret, near the 'El Mirador' Park, from 19:00. This activity is open to everyone, but children aged 8 to 12 must be accompanied by an adult participant. Enrique Navarro Hermosilla, the councillor for Youth and Childhood, stated, "We invite all residents of Colmenar Viejo, of any age, to come dressed up and join a grand choreography inspired by 'Thriller', aiming to gather as many zombies as possible to create one of the most spectacular images of this Halloween."
