The Diputación de Córdoba has announced the winners of its literary awards, organised by the Delegation of Culture, across several categories including poetry, rural novel, drama, and illustrated children's or youth books.
Winners of the literary awards
The XV Premio de Álbum Ilustrado Infantil o Juvenil has been awarded unanimously to Tira y afloja by Maite Gurrutxaga Otamendi. The jury praised the work for its high-quality illustrations and the originality of its text, which encourages reader participation in the story's development. Gurrutxaga has previously received accolades such as the Premio Etxepare de Álbum Ilustrado in 2009 for Alex, nire laguna and the Premio Lazarillo de Álbum Ilustrado for her project Martín.
The jury, which selected the winner from 90 submissions, included María Teresa Fernández, Almudena Castillejo, Inmaculada Serrano, Paco Sordo, and Miguel Cerro, and was chaired by Gabriel Duque, the delegate for culture.
Poetry and rural novel awards
In the XXVI Premio de Poesía Vicente Núñez, a total of 431 poetry collections were submitted, with the award going unanimously to Nadie hereda una casa en llamas by Milagros Moisés González de Alba. The jury, comprising Luis García Montero, Juan Cobos Wilkins, Ángela Segovia, Eloy Sánchez Rosillo, and María Sotomayor, highlighted the poem's emotional intensity and exquisite lyrical composition. Moisés has previously won several awards, including the Premio de Cuentos Ciudad de Coria.
The XXVII Premio de Novela Rural Diputación de Córdoba was awarded, by majority vote, to La rosa oscura by Pedro Antonio Martínez Robles. The jury appreciated its deeply rural character, reminiscent of the magical realism found in the works of authors like Juan Rulfo and Gabriel García Márquez. Martínez Robles, hailing from Calasparra in Murcia, has received numerous awards in both poetry and narrative.
Dramaturgy award
The winner of the V Premio de Dramaturgia Antonio Gala is La rambla by Alejandro Aparicio Bolívar, selected from 247 submissions. The jury, which included Gracia Morales, María Jesús Bajo, Ricardo Iniesta, Borja de Diego, and Ruth Rubio, noted the work's poetic imprint and Lorca-like influences. Aparicio Bolívar is involved in cultural management, music, and various audiovisual projects, with a rich background in theatre and film.
Awards ceremony
Each of the four awards carries a prize of €12,000, publication of the work, and a trophy designed by artist Javier Flores Castillero. The awards ceremony will take place on 26 November at 20:30 in the Salón de Actos of the Palacio de la Merced, during the Gala de la Cultura.
