cultural highlights in Soria: paüra and mario gas take the stage

This week, Soria's cultural programme offers two high-quality artistic performances that invite audiences to enjoy, feel, and reflect through the performing arts. The autumn schedule continues with two notable events at the Palacio de la Audiencia.

On Tuesday, 27 October, and Friday, 30 October, at 20:30, the Soria stage will host two very different productions that share a common theme: their ability to address life's big questions through humour, emotion, and the power of theatre.

Paüra: confronting fear with humour

On 27 October, the company Lucas Escobedo presents paüra, a performance that combines circus, live music, humour, and poetry to explore the universal theme of fear. Through the language of the clown and an impressive musical staging, paüra encourages audiences to face their fears and discover that they can also confront them with laughter. This energetic and sensitive proposal, filled with absurd moments, is designed for audiences of all ages.

The show was awarded Best Circus Show at the 2021 Valencian Performing Arts Awards and was a finalist in the 2022 Max Awards for Best Musical Show.

Mario Gas: a reflection on life

On 30 October, renowned Spanish actor and director Mario Gas will present my suicide or cheerful pessimism, directed by Fernando Bernués. Gas embodies the Swiss writer Henri Roorda, bringing to the stage a text of extraordinary lucidity, irony, and human depth. The play offers a reflection on life, love, work, society, and pleasure through the eyes of a man preparing for his farewell, who candidly and humorously examines the contradictions of existence.

Rather than providing a conventional reflection, the performance invites audiences to contemplate the meaning of life, their choices, and what truly matters, with words and interpretation taking centre stage.

Tickets for both performances can be purchased through the platform entradas.soria.es and at the usual sales points of the Ayuntamiento de Soria.
